Performance and Capability
The SR5 runs Toyota's i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder: 278
horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, fed by a twin-scroll turbocharger with wastegate valve
control and an air-cooled intercooler. What matters day to day is where that torque shows
up. All 317 lb-ft are there at 1,700 rpm, so pulling a trailer away from a stop or taking a
grade does not mean winding the engine out.
Drive goes through part-time four-wheel drive with an electronically
controlled two-speed transfer case, so low range is there when a boat ramp or an unplowed
lane asks for it. The towing receiver hitch is integrated, with four-pin and seven-pin
wiring standard, and TOW/HAUL drive modes retune the transmission for a load. Maximum towing
is 6,000 pounds. Ground clearance is 8.1 inches, and the SR5 weighs 4,685 pounds.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the SR5 is built to be used. The front seats are fabric-trimmed,
with 6-way manual adjustment for driver and passenger. The second row splits 60/40 and
carries a center armrest and cup holders, and it reclines or tumbles forward when the cargo
floor matters more than the seat. The steering wheel is leather-trimmed, with audio and
Bluetooth hands-free phone controls on the spokes.
An 8-inch Audio Multimedia Display sits at the center of the dash, with
wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and an 8-speaker system with a
roof-mounted Exciter. Ahead of you, a digital gauge cluster carries a 7-inch color
Multi-Information Display. Smart Key with Push Button Start, single-zone manual climate
control with air filtration, and heated power outside mirrors round out the daily
equipment.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on the SR5, and it is a full set of
systems rather than one headline feature. Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
watches the road ahead. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Lane Tracing Assist
keep you between the lines on a long highway pull. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control holds your
following distance in traffic.
Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist and Proactive Driving Assist fill in
the rest. The backup camera draws your path as you reverse, so you can see the line the SR5
is actually taking.
Toyota's basic warranty runs 36 months or 36,000 miles. Powertrain
coverage runs 60 months or 60,000 miles, and corrosion perforation coverage runs 60 months
with no mileage limit.
